Reema Lagoo – The Mother Of Bollywood No More

The 59 years old veteran film and T.V actress, Reema Lagoo died of cardiac arrest at 03:30 this morning. The actor was admitted midnight in Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai immediately after she complained about acute chest pain. The mother of Bollywood is now no more.

Lagoo’s son-in-law Vinay Waikul said “She was complaining of chest pain so we took her to hospital around 1 AM. She passed away due to a heart attack around 3.15 AM. She was perfectly fine and had no health issues…so it is really shocking for all of us that she is no more with us.”

The mother of Bollywood has played various roles in television as well as movies. Her impeccable performance were seen in “Hum Apke Hai Kaun”, Hum Saath Saath Hai”, “Kal Ho Nah Ho”, “Maine Pyaar Kiya” , “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and many more. Also, she played the unforgettable role in “Tu Tu Main Main” as Sasu-Maa and in “Shriman and Shrimati” as Shrimatiji.

She has mostly played an idiol role of mother in movies of leading actors Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sri Devi, Madhuri Dixit, Urmila Matondkar.

Undoubtedly, she has also won four Filmfare Awards  for best supporting actress.

Reem Lagoo was born in 1958 as Nayan Bhadbhade. She was a daughter of well known Marathi actress and later, she herself started acting after completion of school from Pune. She has also performed on Marathi stages.  As a matter of fact, she had performed on Marathi stage for four long decades. Lagoo had made her debut in Hindi films as a supporting actress in “Kalyug” in 1980.

She had played a challenging role in Vaastav: The Reality(1999), where a mother kills her own son.

She took her name Reema Lagoo after her marriage. Even though she separated from her husband, she retained the surname Lagoo.
