Supreme Court Upholds Death Penalty After “4 YEARS” – Good Or Bad ?

The good news is the Supreme Court has finally upheld the death sentence to the four convicts involved in the Nirbhaya Rape Case this Friday 05 May 2017.


On 16th December 2012 Saturday night, the victim along with a male companion were returning from the movie “Life Of Pi” from Saket. Time 9:30pm. They were waiting to hail an auto rickshaw, when an off-duty charter bus, driven by the people not driving for commercial purpose stopped to offer them a ride. The drive was from Dwarka to Munirka. Just in few minutes, the victim’s companion noticed that they were heading to other route than the normal one. The door of the bus was tightly shut.

Upon objection about the route direction, one of the bus occupant started raising finger asking why were they out at night so late. This lead to a fight between the victim and her male companion with the 6 bus occupants. The ultimately resulted in brutal fight and GANGRAPE in a moving bus. Both the victim and the male companion were thrown out of the bus half naked covered with blood. One of the passerby found them at 11:00 pm, and were rushed to Safdurjang Hospital and were given immediate treatment. The victim had suffered grave internal injuries.


December 17, 2012         : Delhi Police identified the four men who assaulted and raped the victim – the bus driver Ram Singh,  his brother Mukesh, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma.

December 18, 2012        : All the four accused were arrested. People came out on the streets to protest the gang-rape.

December 21, 2012        : The 5th accused juvenile is nabbed. Police conducts raids to nab the sixth accused, Akshay Thakur, in Haryana and Bihar.  The Government appoints best physicians to give best medical treatment to the victim.

December 22. 2012       : The victim gives her statement before the SDM in the hospital. Akshay Thakur the sixth accused gets arrested in Bihar and is brought to Delhi.

December 25, 2012       : The victim’s condition get more severe and starts deteriorating.

December 26, 2012       : The victim is taken to Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

December 29, 2012            : The victim is declared dead, due to organ failure.

August 31, 2013                 : JJB award 3 years term at a probation home and convicts him for gang-rape and murder

September  13, 2013         : Court award death sentence to all the five convicts. Trial court case refers to the Delhi High Court  for the conformation of the same.

December 25, 2015           : High Court  refuses the stay release  of the juvenile. He completes his 3 years at correction home.
